HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS. :D :D :D
@mawr Aaaaaaaa I want to move there~~~
@mawr I know right? :D I've actually become more and more a fan of theirs over the year (Insert Neptunian joke here. ;))
I'd actually recommend giving the rest of that album a shot too mainly for the tracks that HAVEN'T gotten massively licensed since, because they're WEIRD. ;) Later Beach Boys gets into some really interesting psychedelic stuff. (That and even more so Smile, but that's a whoooole complicated topic of its own)
@literorrery I wondered if you'd ended up having the same problem or not. I think it's okay, I reworded some stuff on the party questionnaires this year to hopefully make it clearer. :)
@Jacel Huh, I've never heard that construction before. Interesting!
@KawaSeadrake I mean they're Glowtide parties, in the same sense that other folks have Christmas parties? :)
(Each time it comes up it's like legitimately baffling to me for a moment on a personal level when someone's like "When are you doing Glowtide this year" and I"m like ???
Because everything else aside, we've been using that as the general name for the season in households around here for over half a decade now. XD
Okay so a slightly awkward(?) general clarification given I've seen this come up twice in as many days and a couple other times since I mentioned it last month?
"Glowtide" is not the name of a specific party or set of parties at a particular location; it is the name of a holiday season. That is like one of the only things about it that I'm going to be a bit uptight about, because I don't WANT it to start feeling like it's a concept I own manifested by events I'm involved in. :)

So, got a thing I'm fretting about tonight, causing me to grumble frustratedly and mope and feel generally tense and meh.
Then I took a mental step back and realized:
"You're probably going to have to choose between joining the super-cool queer pagan group, and seeing the super-cool queer pagan therapist" is a fascinatingly exciting problem to have that I couldn't imagine being presented with even a couple years ago.
So, yay? :)
gender
@Oneironott Yeah exactly! Well honestly 'man' also has some human-implications there too that like, 'boy' and 'dude' and stuff don't. ;)
@starkatt Well, this graph would have to start shifting in the other direction, first. ;)
gender
@KoBunny @Oneironott I can't deciiiiide. ;) I mean "boy-toy" sounds more like "toy for a boy" but also that can be good toooooo.
gender
@Oneironott 'boy' is one of my favorite terms of endearment to hear currently, partially I think because it still feels kinda transgressive? Transgressive and affirming at the same time?
(And it rhymes with toy, yay. :))
@Oneironott @starkatt Basically everything Vlo wrote here is something I would've said too; I think this nails the feelings of it, for me, while I sorta gave the theory behind it. :)
@starkatt For me it's a specific take on being synthetic/artificial. A lot of our narratives around synthetic beings is that they're either subjugated or subjugating; worker-drones or killbots. 'Play', the ideal mode of interacting with toys (including standard orthocosmic non-animate ones) is neither of those. A toy isn't in charge of you, but a good owner also doesn't exploit or abuse their toys. What's expected of toys is that they be comfortable and nice to be around.
@Oneironott where's it from?
@Oneironott oh my gods is that a Neptune?
