re: Gender and cyberpunk rpgs (+, I promise)

@Motodrachen @Draekos fully agreed! It’s nice to hear someone else say it!

re: [1.Ch.] Family, what is this i cant even

@orrery Okay. I think we're in alignment on this, then. I know i would be, at minimum, very upset about something like that being done without my input or even getting the chance to discuss it beforehand.

re: [1.Ch.] Family, what is this i cant even

@orrery Uhhhhhhh.....I... is this a thing you are okay with?

re: Day job, boss, accomodations (+,+,+)

@wobblewuffess I definitely will!

re: Gender and cyberpunk rpgs (+, I promise)

@Draekos @Motodrachen Oh shit that is such a better interpretation! I hadn't even heard of that being official, but even if it isn't, that's how I'm going to think of it from now on.

Day job, boss, accomodations (+,+,+)

So about once a month, my boss sends me a meeting invite for a 1 on 1 check in. The subject is usually something like "$Orthosona/$boss_Name 1:!" with no context in the invite body.

Needless to say, the lack of information was a VERY reliable way of stressing me the fuck out and basically filling up all my emotional buffers with dread, anxiety and worry.

So I asked him to change the invite contents a little, provide some more context and make the subject a little less... unpersonalized.

Today, I got an invite for "$orthosona and $boss_name friendly check-in time" with an invite message of "Just want to meet to see how things are going and generally catch up!"

being heard and having my needs remembered and accommodated for took a lot of anger and frustration i was having this morning from other work stuff and just... disappeared it.

My boss is as much of one of the good ones as you can have in a boss. I'm happy to work for him.

@Draekos @irisjaycomics Corporate game development is likely so focused on profit and deadlines that they've chosen to ignore the distinction, or they aren't subtle enough to realize there is one. It's probably both.

As someone with a more than passing interest in making an "augmented people future" game, what sort of signifiers would most clearly express or show what you actually want from such a game?

re: Gender and cyberpunk rpgs (+, I promise)

@Motodrachen @Draekos Only if they think very shallowly about how tightly human experience and tool usage is welded together. Consider the following: Glasses are primitive cyberware augmentations. Those tiny flashlights you clip onto a hat or wear on a strap around your head are primitive cyberware.

re: Gender and cyberpunk rpgs (+, I promise)

"But Kos, that's not punk!"

Fuck you it's 2019. Being wholesomely into self care and supporting that in others is Punk now.

I don't want to work today. I want to do projects. My projects. I've got a deck roof to engineer, a battlebot to build, a new desk to engineer.

I miss using my hands to create.

@LexYeen@snouts.online The interrobang went away‽

re: CW: Forbes.com link, Reality ensues, science is cool, but sometimes it kills some wonder.

@fibonacci_reminder Those would certainly be the non-Terrans I would want to meet. They'd be more likely to forgive us of our bullshit, and to be more understanding if they get here too late.

re: CW: Wired.com link, Reality ensues, science is cool, but sometimes it kills some wonder.

@Doephin @starkatt What makes me sad is thinking: Who's going to want to talk to a species that doesn't even know where it is yet? I know I don't appreciate being sent on wild snipe hunts.

re: CW: Wired.com link, Reality ensues, science is cool, but sometimes it kills some wonder.

@starkatt well, what else are you gonna call an instrument specifically for navigating by stars?

re: CW: Wired.com link, Reality ensues, science is cool, but sometimes it kills some wonder.

@starkatt So, even though the actual map is not useful, apparently, Pulsars themselves could still be used for stellar navigation. Which is nice to find. I feel slightly better about my tattoo now.

@starkatt I wanted it for a tattoo. I think I might still get it. just cause its too damn awesome not to.

CW: Forbes.com link, Reality ensues, science is cool, but sometimes it kills some wonder.

I was doing some research to try and remember where I was going with a story I was writing and found that the reality of something I thought was really fucking awesome turns out to be completely useless. Like most of my life, and humanity in general.
