The River Tribe has its first confirmed COVID-19 infection. I was ordered to test my VPN tomorrow to make sure that it is both configured properly and that the Tribe's services could handle the load of needing to connect to a Tribe's worth of users working remotely.
My manager, who was sick last week, is feeling perfectly fine now, but has decided to take today off "Just as a precaution" Normally, I wouldn't be pissed off, but having to sit through a meeting where he's telling us we don't get to do the same thing because there isn't enough remote work volume to have a business justification to let my and my fellow techs the same precaution is... damaging to my trust in him. It is hard to follow a leader who won't take the same risks he isn't allowing those under him to avoid while he sits comfortable.

So, I'm going to start making a protesting-focused telepresence robot with a big telescoping LCD sign, loudspeakers, and deployable inflatable cover. This is about avoiding crowd control chemicals and the spread of infections.

@starkatt Honestly, I'd recommend the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson. A group of winged human hybrids escape from the NGO lab they were created in and try to survive and avoid re-capture. I don't remember it being very queer, but it certainly focused on the struggle of sticking together.
