@indi Always. ^v^
@starkatt @indi @vagabondsun I don't think that word "belongs" to anyone, is what I'm getting at. It didn't evolve organically from within the old guard; it was a late introduction drawing a distinction most older community members didn't really see as relevant because "were" covered a broad range of identity-expressions. We'd already rejected Lion Templin's "contherianthropy" by then, f'rex. "Therian" wasn't our word for ourselves until after several schisms and subsumption into furry.
@starkatt @indi @vagabondsun I was in ahww back in 1992-3, and I don't recall anyone using the word before Eternal September; it evolved later, when some people tried to distinguish "non-human identity" and "were means 'human' and I'm not" from "spiritual animal connection." Honestly, I think more people have heard of the word from the Furry Surveys than from original community source material.

@DialMforMara It's also a question of whether the distinction matters to all parties in the discussion. Labels don't carry intrinsic meaning, but I believe that if one set of people use two words interchangeably, and another set use those words in specific situations, eventually the groups will either reconcile to a common understanding -- which may involve finding a third label to hierarchically refer to both cases -- or stop communicating over the distinction.
@Rosemary ... seriously? What form is that, 'cause that's some broke tech right there.

@irisjaycomics So, like, the "spicy black bean" doritos-esque "Corn Pringle" would be like, the devil slouching towards Bethlehem?
TMI Tuesday
In the spirit of #TMITuesday, I'm game for some questions.
In return, here's one for everyone to ponder: what's your favorite "unporn"? What innocuous or unassuming acts have sexual connotations for you that probably weren't intended by the core work?
Autocorrupt grumbling
@JulieSqveakaroo It's all good. ^v^
Autocorrupt grumbling
@JulieSqveakaroo Yeah, but that's enough of a trope that I even used it in Beautiful World and got very gently razzed for it. ^v^

New You, New Me
However, I can post the short-short here and now, which is that "intentional divestment of defense mechamisms" was part of what I had to learn when I moved from bear to rabbit. Part of that work disarmed a lot of my boundaries and impacted my willingness to defend both them and myself.
This change is, at least in part, an attempt to take ownership of those boundaries, and to more explicitly express elements of self that th' buni couldn't represent.
Autocorrupt grumbling
Most of the time, I catch when autocorrupt makes a bad replacement. A few words, however, seem to make it through with frustrating regularity, like "it's" when I mistype "its." Or, apparently, when I type "its" and don't notice Galena helpfully update it to the wrong homophone.
@stochastix Some people get so little physical contact that paying for it seems like good value for money. It says a lot about the world that's been built, doesn't it?
@eurasierboy City of Heroes was that for me. I lived in Paragon City for eight years and it's streets are still ingrained in my mind.
