@abbenm Verrit appears to be an attempt at making a left-wing Breitbart. The only thing more terrifying than their thinking this will work is the possibility that it will.

@asonix@asonix.dog It sounds like it changes how you see yourself. That's not a small thing. We are the tales we tell each other. When we change how we talk about and think about ourselves, it changes our relationships with our own histories and narratives. Give yourself the space and patience to discover what this new reflection means for you. It's okay to be emotional. You're allowed to have feelings and to deal with them as you need.

@mawr A phone scammer claiming to be from the US Government offering 9000-dollar grants called me. His phone number's 7026590086. I called him a scammer and got him tangled up in questions, until he said, "yeah, I make $400/day scamming people and I can't find another job." Then we talked about ethics and I told him I was reporting him. That's when he asked me to be his girlfriend and insisted that he loved me.

I just got to spent fifteen minutes entertaining my office getting a phone scammer to ask me to be his girlfriend when I threatened to report him to the cops.

The problem with my path as it exists is that there's nobody around who can really tell me "yes you did the thing." There's no external confirmation. I feel like the guy in Ultra-Spiritual Life saying, "Can you see how the moon and me are the same thing?" while he's getting his vine on. I have only my own confidence that I'm not flying away into space to hold me down.

I _have_ that confidence. I just wish I had more than that, sometimes.

@MagentaForge You're always allowed to put your paws on the guardrails. We can always unwind back to first principles and reconstruct our route.

When I originally settled on the title "magister" after http://orrery.prismaticmedia.com/2017/02/25/%cf%84%ce%ad%cf%87%ce%bd%ce%b7/, I chose it because I thought it a better alternative than "master," and "mistress" had kink contexts I didn't want to overload.

Tonight, reading old magical notes, I found Frater Pyramidatus' Glossary of Thelema. "Magister: The lowest Grade in the S⸫ S⸫ of A⸫ A.⸫ ... To attain this Grade one must swear the Oath of the Abyss."

Synchronicity is the universe's way of telling you to shut up and pay attention.

@Gargron I'm personally most partial to Collapse the Light Into Earth, but I have emotionally resonant memories with that one.

900 more words on this bit. I feel rusty and weak. There's a novel's worth of history to try to cover in a very short span so people don't have to have read the book to make sense of it.

I'm posting this as part one. Part two will have the scene I actually imagined, but hopefully with enough information to let it make sense. It's always hard to write around what people don't know, or think they know. That includes characters in the story sometimes.
