There's an idea that's been on my mind a lot lately, and I should probably write a whole thing on it, but here's a short summary:

"Grace" is the recognition on the part of one who has been wronged that the violation was unintentional. Not accidental, but not intended. It's an acceptance that the intent of an act wasn't malicious, even if the act itself was harmful. Forgiveness for late payment because something came up is what the "grace period" on your credit card statement means.

How many times did I look at that list of library functions trying to load the x86 version of a library alongside the x64 versions of everything else and not notice?

Well, one fewer than I could have, to be sure, but still....

It's official; I'm being "laterally promoted" to Lead SRE. I'm... cautiously excited about this? It's a new focus, but it's pretty awesome and I'm getting a direct role in defining success metrics and criteria for the company.

It's... yeah, it's like a new form of shop steward. I like that.

I know I'm, like, a month late on the invocation of Aries, and I can't even blame the sidereal calendar, but the seasons are late here in Seattle this year, and the kitchen recovery has just... felt like trying to make progress was impractical while I had this Known Stressor sitting on my chest. That lifted over the weekend. There's one to replace it, yes, but I know that one well and I've managed his like before. He doesn't scare me the way that one did. So the year starts late this time.

Spring is here.

The Work Continues.

Tonight's food crimes included red beans with bacon and collard greens, and teriyaki pork fried rice. However, I didn't get photos of either because I was incredibly busy -- happily so -- with guests while I was cooking. I'll have to revisit those later.
