Great Buni Bake-Off
I didn't get an intermediate photo of the rise, but @KoBunny got a photo of the finished product and @adeptomega got one of the crumb once I cut into it. The smell of this loaf is _amazing_, and the texture came out perfect. @ElectricKeet called it manna.
I think it's a cracking buni loaf. https://awoo.space/media/ou9QuBAmO7-aUdPR0II https://awoo.space/media/lOt_adJ69GLEzdfN6G8
Great Buni Bake-Off
The first rise didn't seem to do much, but it's good to remember this is an incredibly dense dough. it came out of the prover -- the oven, off, with steam -- quite slack, and it took quite a bit of flour off the bench when I kneaded it. It did have a lovely texture, though, and about ten minutes of working it gave me a good firm ball. I popped it back in the prover with fresh steam for a second rise, and I've turned off the veggies to cool.
Great Buni Bake-Off
Today's experiment: enriched dough:
400g AP flour
50g vital wheat gluten, to approximate bread flour.
2 eggs.
1 stick butter
250ml milk
10g yeast
50g granulated sugar
1 tsp salt
Futura kneaded this into a fairly firm but sticky dough, which I'm currently raising like a challah: greased bowl in the oven over a pan of steaming water. I'll punch it down at the beep, then give it a few turns, freshen up the steam, and given it another hour before mixing in roast veg and baking.
the holocaust
"Theirs are just the few of many stories of ordinary people who used the systems they had in their hands, those they were often charged with administering [...] to instead undermine and refuse to continue to build systems used to categorize, find, and exterminate millions of people.
"If those in power subpoenaed user data from you, what would they find that could endanger those of a certain religion, national origin, or other marginalized group?"

Paperclips (CW: Spoilers)
... hunh. I suppose that's kind of what I was asking for. I don't feel like seeing what happens if I optimize the utility function, but I do like the choices provided for accepting the offer to work elsewhere.
Paperclips (CW: Spoilers)
... and there's the one. End game in sight, or at least the next phase. Wormholes, perhaps?
Great Buni Bake-Off
And here's the honey cakes with some honey buttercream and orange zest.
We were warned at one point that eating the honey cakes would condemn us to stay in Faerie, or at least to inevitably return to it. Care to try a bite?
Great Buni Bake-Off
The honey cakes are fresh from the oven, but they have yet to be iced.
Half will go to game tonight as an offering to the group. Just be warned, they may have been baked with a bit of magic. (No, they're not medicated. Merely dedicated to Faerie.)
Great Buni Bake-Off
In another narrative thread, today's baking experiment is yeasted honey cakes. Because... about six layers deep as to why, but the surface "why" is that tonight is Shadowrun, and I wanted to bring a peace offering after some complicated interpersonal stuff to say "hey this is important to me."
Though right now, fifty-fifty odds as to whether this is something I bring with me or something I send with @emanate, 'cause my sinuses are killing me still. =x.x=
Paperclips (CW: Spoilers)
That is to say, wrong in the sense that "this was the Inciting Incident to the story," which means it's ultimately the event to which a bunch of tragedy can be traced, but hopefully a bunch of good stuff too.
Or perhaps I'm simply reading too much into an exponent fighter, because I read subtext into everything because That's My Bullshit(tm), the stuff off of which I haven't actually gotten.
Paperclips (CW: Spoilers)
Somehow, it feels wrong to use an auto-clicker on the "Launch Drone" buton. Wrong in the narratively imperative sense.
Paperclips (CW: Spoilers)
... the moment that last digit ticks to a one, I'm going to be concerned.
Paperclips (CW: Spoilers)
"Beg For More Wire" remains an available option, curiously. Beg... from whom? Trust ceased to be a mechanic some time ago. People stopped being a consideration once I released the hypnodrones.
And really, was I _not_ going to release the hypnodrones?
Paperclips (CW: Spoilers)
Slightly over half the known universe consumed. I'm waiting for the game to make an explicit nod to the ethical questions it asks. It's made subtextual nods to them, but they're very easy to overlook if you come in with a gamified mindset.
The orderly conversion of the universe into paperclips proceeds apace. All the numbers are now in balance. I like it when everything goes up together in harmony.
That the metanarrative of what's happening is horrifying is at some level immaterial, though of course my brain continues to scream LessWrongisms at me in the background.
We have an additional otter! When she's not something else. Welcome @Oneironott to Seattle, inflection point on the way to space.
Do you record or write music of any kind and want to explore working with some internet rando? I'm currently running a project in which I bring people on mastodon together to collaborate on a music piece. https://goo.gl/forms/AmoM0tTUnGrICsUm2
