@vahnj As a PHP developer, everything in my world is bad and terrible and on fire and therefore, bad is normal and normal is acceptable??
More and more I want to stop PHPing
programmeing
@vahnj Yeah, that one screwed with me, too
It's pretty handy that you can use boolean data storage to effectively store 3 values in, though. I've made heavy use of that a bunch of times.
@TipsyTentacle@witches.town @Fuego @literorrery It's not so bad; transit is great here and I have both car and motorcycle to get around.
I'm hoping to make my way to more of the Northgate area in the next year or so. ^^
@TipsyTentacle@witches.town @Fuego oooh, nice!! I'm in Woodinville at the moment, @literorrery is around Northgate.
PSA to folks who're afraid of reaching out to a friend because you think they're too busy with their life and might think you're a nuisance for bothering them
You're not alone, and the person you're convinced is too popular and cool to want to spend time with you might very well be assuming the same of you.

@literorrery @ElectricKeet @adeptomega ++++++++++
@green @literorrery @typhlosion I wrote a thing about this (larger) problem a while back.
https://corticalstack.net/thoughts-on-human-knowledge-and-communication/
I've watched this tear communities apart so many times; one side builds a narrative to frame failed attempts at positive action as intentionally malicious acts, the narrative divides a community and people continue on their separate ways.
It's just part of life, I guess. I just wish it'd stop tearing my friends apart.
@typhlosion @literorrery @green As for this particular example of The Discourse, as far as I can tell, it appears someone was announcing to all of Mastodon that awoo.space is a toxic problematic dumpster fire full of terrible people or something.
We all know that isn't true. But some people just assume the worst. I mean, there are people who think I'm some kind of manipulative narcissist thirsty for power.
Everything we know about anyone else is a narrative. Some narratives are BS.
@KawaSeadrake Having my hormones adjusted until things being well made made me cry while enjoying them is one of my favorite things HRT has opened up to me.
Empathy had always been my most treasured skill, and estrogen only enhanced it.

@green @literorrery @typhlosion "The Discourse" is a meme, and this is a pretty good explanation of it https://medium.com/@meganhoins/what-the-discourse-has-to-do-with-internet-discomfort-6a554408966b
@Fuego @TipsyTentacle@witches.town Hello friend!
no neg, only pos
Every time you neg yourself you reinforce that mode of thinking and it becomes easier and easier to see yourself that way and harder and harder to think you can succeed and do the things you want to.
So when you have a negative self thought, say no aloud, and replace it with a positive thought. Repeat it over and over. Please. I care about you all.

I love this man's writing so very much. ;~;
"I wonder if there's a single place in the whole world that's never had a story. I bet not. [...] Every little square of it, every place you stomp your foot, that's where something happened. Something wild, maybe something nobody knows about, but something. You can fall out of the sky and right into some forgotten storybook.
"You run and run and run and you keep turning pages and none of them are empty. They're all full of stories. There's nowhere left to write.
"I think I'm just a bookmark."
possible spoilers for Ancillary Justice
@green Hee! My first is still Hitchhiker's Guide, but only just barely. :3
possible spoilers for Ancillary Justice
@green It's my second favorite scifi novel series of all time. Can't squee enough about it! The audio books are also excellent.
