@clonejo I was waiting for when I actually have a TV and a couch but eh, it's not that expensive, especially with a referral link

that's nice to know. I know how to export cookies so that'll come in handy when I wanna watch sth on the train

oh and the #1 Youtube feature I need them to copy is chapters, considering there's a lot of long video essays on there

decided to try out Nebula since it has some of the best stuff I actually wanna watch on Youtube but it's still much cheaper than Yt Premium and it's really nice to use a website that's not overloaded with ads and algorithmic recommendations

they gotta work on their subtitle implementation though, at least on the hbomb video they're broken up randomly and since they're embedded in the video you can't change any of the features.

sure is a six gigabyte file too, huh

god, seriously? to download a Windows 10 iso on Windows you need to pretend you're on an iPad or it won't give you a link, how annoying

@socks there's a time and place both for fancy and simple language, I suppose

@socks also language is art, do you look at a fancy portrait and go "well, that could've been a stick figure"

@socks it means something different tho, it's not exactly the same thing

@ufo_pies pretty sure that's faceblindness, I can recognize people by their facial features alone, with little effort

shork boosted

A decade ago, a tribe of JS partisans took the web by the reins, forked HTML and JS syntax, and yeeted userland abstractions into the critical path because "a better user experience".

This was premised on the idea that everyone's CPUs/networks would get faster the way their top-end phones did.

They could not have been more wrong.

JS-first web development has been a planetary-scale exercise in the rich making life harder for the less well-off.

I wish the Firefox screenshot tool would let me select multiple block elements, I love not having to crop anything manually

@twi the youtube thing is just a synced embed, it gets detected by sponsorblock and everything

my body is a machine that (sometimes) turns video essays into completed chores

shoutout to hbomb, my dishes are clean, I made and ate dinner and I'm not even close to finishing the video

@odoben the Zenfone 10 has a headphone jack and has storage options from 128 GB to 512 GB, so unless you need an ungodly amount of storage on the go it should be plenty

@NoraReed I just noticed: You can use the Windows app as a server, obvs you have to keep the computer running and it'd only work within your local network

github.com/grocy/grocy-desktop-access

long

@NoraReed there's grocy, which is basically an inventory system, it's meant for keeping track of food but it's pretty flexible and the android app is great. To use it with an app you need a server though, a raspberry pi 3 or more might be enough

or you might wanna look into Notion or sth similar, I only know of Notion's database features and I haven't tried it but it looks very flexible and user-friendly. It costs money though notion.so/de-de/help/guides/cr

@NoraReed do you need basically a more organized notes app or a database slash an inventory system?

@SirTapTap@mastodon.social also didn't all the New Soup games have star worlds? some of them definitely did
