@noracodes I'm still hoping they will deem WearOS worthy of getting an Apple Music companion app (and maybe make the ancient Shazam app work while they're at it)
@kelly yes, Firefox will be a safe choice for the foreseeable future
@noracodes the funny thing is: Apple has an Android team already, they do great work on Apple Music and ATV+, the only reason why they don't want to is a political one
@kelly in the long run you will have to switch to a browser that is not Chrome
@kelly That is a Firefox logo because Chrome and Firefox take the same addon format (for now). However, the message only appears when you read the Chrome changelog, same as the Manifest V3 message
Firefox will implement a thing called "Manifest V3", the new format that makes adblockers worse and kills addons like Tampermonkey, but they have no plans of discontinuing Manifest V2, which is what addons currently use
https://www.tampermonkey.net/changelog.php?locale=en&show=dhdg
@kelly yes, Gecko-based browsers like Mozilla Firefox and depending on your OS, Webkit-based browsers like Safari
@kelly from the wording it seems like that setting will become necessary at a later date
@kelly in the long run, Tampermonkey will stop working on Chrome and Chrome-derived browsers (Opera, Brave, Vivaldi,…) because Chrome is preparing to only allow addons that don't load custom code, probably to get rid of effective ad blockers
@kelly paste chrome://extensions into your address bar, then click on the toggle in the top right

no, discord is not automatically making it so your contacts can find you
this checkbox on this part of the phone app is in actuality just exceedingly bad UI design; it is specifically connected to the "Find friends" button directly below it. It will show up as checked by default, you can uncheck it and back out, only to find it rechecked when you go back in. That's because it isn't a setting for anything other than that exact button.
When you press that button what it does is trigger your phone's permission manager to ask you if you want to give Discord access to your contacts. No permission, no access. If it can't see your contacts and check the phone numbers, it can't auto add anyone.
If you really want to be certain, remove your phone number from Discord in the settings. I recommend using an authenticator app on your phone such as Aegis for 2FA rather than relying on SMS based 2FA for security reasons anyway, so it's not really like it needs it.
@typhlosion okay, it's a lot less miniaturized and also not something Nintendo invented, you could probably read the patent https://youtu.be/ppQaXDBI5EQ
@typhlosion if I had to guess they might've used sth similar to an optical mouse sensor
@noracodes lmao they keep making it worse
