@codl yeaaah, that's part of why i figured i'd mention the caveats

i don't really have any other ideas that aren't extremely annoying to set up, but i figured that if this did do what you were hoping, that i could save you some headache

@codl have you considered something like cockatrice?

i know quite a few people who play mtg using that, and it's oss! it downloads all the cardstocks, and you can make decks out of any of them too

the downside is that it doesn't very explicitly enforce any rules, it's more of a tabletop sim that specifically allows a few variations of magic to be played pretty easily

talking about big parts of your life that you love in a way that's not only understood, but also reciprocated is lovely! i feel like that would feel nice for everyone involved (otherwise, i would just hang back because i don't like to bother people)

the problem is that ulterior motives can really sully any frank interaction, and it's a lot of energy to fall for them all the time

i think the reason i want to hang with the artists i like is mostly because it's really cool to meet others who have such distinctly similar tastes to me

a lot of peeps with pretty big followings are mostly overwhelmed by people treating them as if they are exclusively the "dispenser of the thing that made them popular", and not someone who has feelings too

so a lot of them kinda stonewall new interaction

i mean, i'm not very popular, and i've had people try to get close so they could score some free art

being introduced mostly gets rid of the possibility
