@sagesharp@mastodon.technology @eldang roguelike celebration used a browser mud where you could move between rooms and talk with people who were in the same places as you, a lot had special purposes and some had video or audio calls you would see as you entered that you could join if you felt comfortable enough

it also had a lot of little hidden things that were fun to discover, and things you could visibly eqip

it was pretty fun! and maybe something like that could make the online aspect a little more social..?

@Xkeeper i'm glad you got out of that situation..!

it sounded like an absolute disaster, so i can barely imagine how much of a relief that must be

for reals, embedding an nrepl in anything that runs on the jvm is extraordinarily underrated, and definitely one of my favorite hobbies i'll probably always take with me

it's just kind of incredible i can just like...take something i already extremely appreciate and introduce it to places that usually wouldn't have it

it's just so ridiculously useful, that i can just introduce it on those terms alone, and that fact it's also my favorite language is just a fun little bonus

even though the main reasons for pulling it out often involve scary circumstances, every time i get to use clojure for my actual work work, it's just such a breath of fresh air to use that it doesn't really matter

hee, words really can't put how grateful i am that it's a thing we can use

@lyncia hee, oh gosh

could you imagine just, like...a termux-float overtop of your games so you could chat it up in irc

For anyone going to direct actions or protests here is my protest checklist™️

- Wear all black
- Cover your face
- Don't bring a phone, if you must:
- Lock your phone with pin or password
- Disable any "smart unlock" feature
- Don't bring ID of any kind
- Don't bring payment cards of any kind
- Bring cash, water, and food
- Bring an umbrella
- Inform yourself about the protests' lawyer and write their phone # on your arm with permanent marker; if there is none:
- Make sure you know of a decent lawyer and do the same
- DO NOT TALK TO THE POLICE, if you get arrested, say you want your lawyer, nothing else

@SuricrasiaOnline yeah, this sounds like htop! though there's also btop if you're in the domain and like fun colors and a lot more info

plus it does this cool thing where the cpu monitor histogram is drawn with braille characters, so it gives information every half character-width

the ADHD problem of purchasing the domain name but never writing the website

@lyncia hey, i dig it!

one of the main reasons a physical journal has been tempting to me is because you can just like.....draw in them!

@iitalics hee. i feel like this is a pretty universal experience~

i mean, it sure has Some Defaults

@monorail it's an aesthetic masterpiece

it's honestly kinda mind-boggling that it even exists

@lyncia this is mine btw~ awoo.space/@thingywott/1079188

it's just a pi 400, but it's honestly such a cool lo-fi aesthetic

@lyncia hell yeah! goofy things are the best

i mostly journal in mine since text editing is a pretty low bar while i learn how to actually do more complex things with it--but i just wanna do weird and neat things with it eventually too

@lyncia ooh! any plans for it..?

i have a plan 9 box which is basically just a really fun journal i write in often

re: venting about someone being shitty about weed

@vantablack oh yikes

and that was on the tildeverse?? that's pretty much the last place i expected people to be shitty about that

and if not, i feel like a good chunk of ~town probably would be with you at least

in the meantime, i hope you feel better soon..!

@codl imagine being a contributor to it

just testing your bugfixes must be like being thrown into a time vortex over and over
