@typhlosion wow!!
typhlosion are really cool too!
@typhlosion i love this journey for chaos you've embarked on, and this part actually makes it even better
@sugar i just wanted to say that your icon is extremely good
abdl (+)
learning that one of the people behind bunnybot is abdl!
aaa, how many times am i going to learn that someone i've been interacting with for a while has been without my knowing, and that i'm not such an anomaly
this has legit happened a double-digit number of times now, and it still catches me off guard every time
so! i ended up writing a super-simple pattern to let me see what's in the maps more specifically~
each different color is a row in the map layout, and if i mouse over any bit, it will tell me what kind of sprite it is on the map there! (it will also tell me the coordinate i'm looking at)
@SomeEgrets@meow.social wat
does that happen when you use another interface, like say https://pinafore.social/?
(also, i should stress this isn't an app, it's another website that interacts with your main instance using client-side websockets in your browser)
@SomeEgrets@meow.social oh yeah! it's absolutely rad!
https://github.com/WerWolv/ImHex
if you grab it, try opening a png in it and check out the breakdown in the bottom when you apply its pattern!
it's not as elaborate as wireshark's bit-for-bit descriptions of what things are, but it does a lot of the same things, and i like it lots~
with something like imhex, you can even visualize it to see the details a little more clearly with its data processor!
it's really neat opening level files for old games in hex editors
a lot of the time, they are just 2d arrays just dumped right into a file, so you can see the shapes of the levels if you adjust the width of the wrapping!
like, here's the first level of duke nukum 1 in HxD next to what it looks like in-game!
@codl goodnight codl..! ^^
pokemon scarlet/violet first impressions (no spoilers)
@cinnamon i feel really sorry for game freak
they really are under a colossal amount of pressure considering their size (which is often split in two to meet cascading deadlines!) and the fact that TPC really Does Not give them very much to make what is essentially the "heart" of pokemon
i think they do a phenomenal job usually! but also, it makes a lot of sense that the games that actually advance the series are a little shaky
@codl maybe A would be the original and B is a sample of it?
@Felthry i always love it when people learn things!
it always confused me when someone bettering themselves was seen as a reason to make them feel bad
The "lucky 10,000" mindset (https://xkcd.com/1053/) is a much more positive and helpful way of thinking about things than the "how do you not know that?" mindset. try to make people part of today's lucky 10,000, not just belittle them for not knowing things!
