@noiob ooh! that's not bad
thinking of maining anyone?
@Nystre creät tastey fod
@Nystre hee, the secret mario genre!
but actually though, it's always a little stupefying to discover a genre that you never knew existed outside of some specific game music
the last time that happened was when i found out that most JRPG music was nu jazz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz1-1N4PYSE
@codl oh wow, 7 hours??
that's pretty ex-stream
this message is brought to you by Griffin McElroy randomly playing the Pokemon theme on MBMBAM and me realizing "wait, why don't i know that yet??'
@SomeEgrets oh yeah!
it used to be a custom instance thing where you had to put data into your header formatted in a specific way
i think a lot of people liked the idea, so it turned into a separate free-form table upstream
either way, it was a really welcome addition!
@noiob aaand oops, i'm totally acting like an ad right now (sorry!)
it's outright my favorite game series though--they have such good vibes!
@noiob yeah! quite a few more, actually!
explorers of sky is probably the longest of the bunch, because it has like 20 hours of post-game added to it that goes into detail of the back-stories of characters
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KX-KaaQx4VQ
gates was the first game on 3ds, and has an animal-crossing like building mechanic
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zWAFqu913c
and super has the largest scope, and the most polished gameplay, shaking up a lot of things (it's also harder)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPQW-qc67pE
@noiob oh! a lot has happened since then! three sets of games, in fact
the easiest ones to find right now are probably "gates to infinity" and "super mystery dungeon"
gates is the earlier of the two, and has a really satisfying story
also super mystery dungeon has the continents of all the previous games as places you can visit, and makes quite a few references to previous games (nothing story-significant though)
of the DS games, "explorers of sky" has everything the others do, and tons more
@noiob aaahh! they're so good!
i love these games so much!
@Kistaro yep! it's still going strong here too
it's interesting to see how far i can push my resources without leaving the apartment though
i wanted to draw a location in pokemon super mystery dungeon, and was going to use the actual game as a reference
so i started it up and discovered i was at a story segment completely isolated from the place i wanted to look at
this is an extremely good excuse to play some mystery dungeon, and i'm definitely taking it!
self-aware double standards
i think my biggest fear is not being worth the mental energy of others
but that's not something i try to solicit to begin with--except in a few cases where i've convinced myself that it's absolutely worth it
i mean, it does make my twitter extremely browsable, but it also feels like i'm basically treating myself like a brand, which is ahahaha not good
that's less true here--which is freeing! but there are still a few places where i've decided i'm likely not welcome
self-aware double standards
*sees one of those positive messages directed at everyone*
my brain: oh yeah! this really does apply to everyone... except for me, of course!
hee, nice try, brain
maybe my resolution for next year should be to get out there as much as possible to counteract my self-exclusionary thoughts?
getting anxious over nothing is the last thing i need, and i think getting some proof that it's all unfounded might be just what i need
Infinity War spoilers
@KommaChameleon i totally didn't expect it either
i'm glad they went through with it though, because a deus ex machina would have felt so cheap after all of that
i wonder what this means for future marvel things though?
@99CentSoftness if they barked behind each other, at least there would be a chance for tail call optimization
oh hi! i do computers, and sometimes draw stuff~ i like lo-fi things and cute aesthetics!
i also probably like you
