kitty alert, trust and betrayal, robot uprising, 🐯❤️🐱
Peggy accidentally left the Roomba on while we were feeding the moochlets.
Yeah. Apparently they set a new jump height record and then BOLTED back outside.
I did the right thing: I took the Roomba outside, put it on the porch, scolded it at length, and gave it a good solid punt with my toe to show my little buddies TIGER HAS THEIR BACKS.
They still ran off and wouldn't come back until I shook a food box at 'em.
Team Cat will have its revenge, Evil Floor Robot. Someday my friends will tame you and ride YOU into battle.
@mawr I have addressed "our" three cats like this on many an occasion.
Zero effect*. They answer to a higher power, one that has assured them guilt is no object.
(* Well, technically, sometimes Shemp will look at me and flop over. But that's apparently not so much a surrender as a "yeah, okay, I'm still just gonna resume catting right here if you don't mind.")
@Soreth I'm gonna be 45 on the 3rd. I'm JUST FINE with letting this pass without observation. -_-

Man, I am on a roll in the kitchen this week. Peg ran out for pizza takeout and I tacked on an order of wings. At the last minute I asked for them plain, because I had a whim to throw together my own sauce. I didn't even know what I'd make.
I wound up making my own nước chấm (Vietnamese dipping sauce): fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, vinegar, garlic, and chili flakes. Didn't even bother measuring it out or looking up a recipe. It was so good I went back and picked over the bones to get every last trace of meat. I *never* do that with restaurant sauces.
psychoceramics, web kooks, conspiracy theorists
@anthracite gave me a chew toy. =(^)_______(^)= He's a glorious throwback to the days when reading about other people's apophenia was still kinda fun.
I mauled him up pretty bad on Reddit for smarting off at Anthy when she tried to debunk his COVID = Antichrist theory.
Insulting my girlfriend is one thing, but you do NOT get away with writing Roman numerals out of sequence and still expecting them to retain their value. And you do NOT append another "6" to the Number of the Beast and still try to invoke Rev. 13:18.
Not in this goddamn household.

re: Working with the river tribe
@kelseyhusky 0.75 Trumps is a *terrifying* amount of evasion. :O I feel kinda privileged now, honestly: my employers at HERE, Inc. have been so... German about everything. It's almost funny how much the Simpsons stereotype from that one episode where the Germans take over has turned out to be true. (Except we haven't gotten any chocolate. :( ) They've been incredibly forthright with us all -- we did get our pay cut, but they really bent over backwards to make sure the money came from ANYWHERE except firings and rank-and-file salaries. I can understand the poor bastard is probably under a lot of pressure to answer without actually answering... but holy crap, that's disrespectful of them. -__- I wish y'all luck getting better out of them!
re: Working with the river tribe
@kelseyhusky Oh god, it sounds like some sort of 1970s satire. Like something Paddy Chayefsky or Billy Wilder would direct. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this shit.
re: Dunking on self, Vent, MH (-)
@Phorm The ballhoodings will continue until morale improves.
re: Working with the river tribe
@kelseyhusky That was what Kristy always said about them! The culture always sounded so libertarian and "find your own way through"... yet so authoritarian and "no, we didn't mean THAT way" that it was mindblowing that anyone ever finished anything at all. The overall impression that I got was that it had "principles" no more than a slime mold had principles; it just had stimuli and responses, because there was no central nervous system.
re: joining the bandwagon; 🐯
@Leucrotta Actually this is gonna break your heart but I am probably like a three-block walk away from mahmoul. XD The local falafel and shawarma joint has a little convenience store attached to it with four shelves of Middle Eastern cookie-like-objects...

So I had some really good local tasso (basically spicy Cajun ham) that was about to expire, so I chopped it up really fine and ended up making a stir fry out of it. And it was surprisingly great. It's already a bit sugary and fatty, so it caramelized and crisped up beautifully.
And I thought, you know, I've got some decent Shaoxing wine and I can probably get a hold of some Sichuan peppercorns. I think next time I'm gonna go full Cajun-Chinese, throw in some peanuts, ginger, and water chestnuts, and make Kung Pao Tasso.
re: listening to Camper Van Beethoven again observation, drug mention
@Leucrotta Oh, I remember! They've always seemed like a very *coyote* sort of band to me. All made of out of the best scavenged musical bits and scraps.
soundcrime, extreme music, mlp, reclaiming ugly things
I still want to make a power electronics* album that sounds exactly like Whitehouse or Genocide Organ, all hideous grinding industrial noise... but for the lyrics we hire Andrea Libman to do Fluttershy saying things like "Hi! You look lovely today! Thank you ever so much for dropping by, I hope you're having a nice morning! Would you like to say hello to my animal friends? Let's have some herbal tea and then go for a walk in the meadow! It's really sunny out today!"
re: listening to Camper Van Beethoven again observation, drug mention
@Leucrotta And Egyptian cartoons?
shenanigans, fact-checking, blatantly patting self on back, raccoon research godling, good morning, mood(++)
Started off the day by schooling a "HURR ITS JUST SCIENCE" transphobe on the genetic complexities of sexual development, then debunked a fake Obama birth certificate by looking up the date of Kenya's independence and plotting a map route from Obama's family village to Mombasa.
It's a good day so far. I love dropping into these people's mentions and fucking up their mornings. They'll never accept that they've been proven wrong, but watching them struggle to fire synapes as they rationalize it away is so entertaining. ^__^

@kelseyhusky It is kinda terribawesome, isn't it...
What can I say, Goliath reminds me of my buddy Megaweapon.
@JulieSqveakaroo (Except of course it wouldn't be set in Brazil, which of course, is where Childrens Hospital takes place, as you can tell from all the Brazilian things happening...</injoke>)
