@Phorm BLARGH, that sounds frustrating. I'm gonna be without my work laptop for a week or so myself, but mine was basically just the World's Largest Timeclock Punchcard to start with so I won't really miss it much.

It reminds me of when Peg used to work for the Boston Museum of Science doing Flash animation, and whenever she encountered an IT policy she didn't like, she just... kinda strolled around it, got what she needed with her own skills, and obtained forgiveness instead of permission.

We were mostly reliant on that household income at the time, so I was SO TORN between "dammit, Peg, be careful" and "YOU ARE MY ETERNAL HERO O__O ".

It creates kind of a concerning caste system in our household, honestly. :) There are the Elite Aristocats who can make the leap from the driveway fence to our window and come right in (i.e. Shadow and Sugarfoot), and there's the Lumpen Purrletariat who are still forced to compete for a chance at the front door crack.

Needless to say, we do our best to alleviate this inequity with a robust social democratic program of equally distributed food and scritchies. In practice, this mostly means scooping Shemp away from the food bowls when he's being a big butthead so his family can actually get in there too. :p

@mawr We've known about this one for a while! The showrunners are old friends of Peg from her animation days, and there's an alternate universe (with a much more ambitious/foolhardy dragon in it) where she's doing storyboards or something for it...

We met up with Gabe Swarr and Katie Rice at Patrecon a year or two ago and chatted about the show over lunch. They had to go because they "had a meeting with Steven." Martian's honor. It was kinda awesome.

I can not begin to tell you how much I wish I had camera footage of this morning's Kitten Hijinx as we tried to gently escort the kids back onto the porch after getting Zerg Rushed.

Highlights included: a full 360 kitten inversion, Penumbra doing the moonwalk to sneak back into, Shemp and Penumbra each sneaking back in while we opened the door to let the other one out -- FOUR TIMES -- and some very good purrboxing from what are still some very good kitties.

@Leucrotta Yeah, honestly, I'll still cheerfully watch Woody Allen or Roman Polanski films -- I just refuse to do anything but steal 'em. It's not that hard to love the work and hate both the values and the guy responsible.
