@zx3 Oh, it would've been fine, just don't blow their cover! =(n).(n)=
I really need to get back to the Audubon Zoo and get some photos of the absurdly healthy, plump, happy cousins in their swamp wildlife exhibit. Peg and I still wanna start a puzzle fund for them...
film, horror, America, style/theme spoilers but no plot spoilers except for "there are some bunnies and they do OK"
Finally got around to seeing Us. Had a few imperfections, but still instant contender for favorite horror film of all time. I was braced for something much more grueling, but the fact it actually has COMPETENT HORROR PROTAGONISTS balanced things out so well. Just a little violence and some deeply, deeply psychologically unsettling moments, my favorite kind of horror. Love at even more as an economic fable.
Also there are bunnies. And the bunnies do okay for the most part, though there are some implicit sad bunnies in the backstory.
@hummingrain She's the aloof one of the three and she's STILL pretty friendly for a cat. I got a nip from her yesterday when it was time to remove her from the box she'd claimed, but it was the highest-precision nip I could ask for, obviously carefully planned to NOT hurt her Food Humans. All three are surprisingly patient with having their paws played with, for street cats, too!
@Sig Ooh, I'll bet Shemp would let us get away with holding him like this but would be JUST annoyed enough about it to make it gratifying. :D
(The poor kittyboy. He will rue becoming my favorite for the rest of his life.)

re: CW: yelling about the pnw, disease, racism
@mmsword @Soreth @hystericempress That article was a misquote on CNN's part. The 38% figure *includes* people who would not have bought Corona for other reasons, like... um... they live in the PNW and have access to much better beers. :)
mild self-pity, first world problems, foodcrime, spurious laws
Heh. Guess I won't be taking that vacation in Seattle until things clear up.
That means, by the Alice Trillin Law of Compensatory Cashflow ("Any money not spent on an anticipated luxury is the equivalent of windfall income."), I have just made hundred of dollars.
Fuck it, I'm ordering sushi.
@JulieSqveakaroo Poor thing! Best of luck and keep us posted!
coronavirus; WA state
OK, Seattle folk. Coronavirus is making the headlines in King County.
1) Don't panic.
2) Wash your damn hands.
3) Carry a little sanitizer bottle.
4) I said wash your damn hands.
5) If you use public transit and touch the rails or grips... DID I MENTION WASH YOUR FUCKING HANDS.
Your odds of survival just went up like ten-fold right there, and they were already pretty high.
@Oneironott wild?! speak for yourself, ott lady, i was manufactured on a facility on mercury and get cranky if the pillows on my recharge bay aren't properly fluffed
❤️
@eredien @frameacloud Every damn time I see that website's name, my brain wants to pronounce it as "futur-eem." :D
uspol, psychoceramics, snark
Ah, there's no finer way to start the day than to push a QAnon's face in a pile of statistics and citations that show they got every single basic fact of their coronavirus conspiracy theory incorrect, down to the fact the lab they're screaming about is not in fact in Wuhan, China... but Surrey, UK. 🤣🤣🤣🖕
@typhlosion rat, and where i come from that's a big compliment
rats are good
re: Two words that should not go together.
@SangriaSnake listen, if you got a rich enough ecosystem in there to provide a habitat for a spider, the spider is not your biggest concern 🙀
@typhlosion eeeeyup, found out only thanks to a salad expiration date n.n;
re: bevvin'
@typhlosion I did a little research just to satisfy my own curiosity, and apparently most Japanese-style "royal" milk tea is made with Assam and/or Darjeeling?
