re: Dunking on self, Vent, MH (-)

@Phorm The ballhoodings will continue until morale improves.

re: Working with the river tribe

@kelseyhusky That was what Kristy always said about them! The culture always sounded so libertarian and "find your own way through"... yet so authoritarian and "no, we didn't mean THAT way" that it was mindblowing that anyone ever finished anything at all. The overall impression that I got was that it had "principles" no more than a slime mold had principles; it just had stimuli and responses, because there was no central nervous system.

re: joining the bandwagon; 🐯

@Leucrotta Actually this is gonna break your heart but I am probably like a three-block walk away from mahmoul. XD The local falafel and shawarma joint has a little convenience store attached to it with four shelves of Middle Eastern cookie-like-objects...

foodcrime

So I had some really good local tasso (basically spicy Cajun ham) that was about to expire, so I chopped it up really fine and ended up making a stir fry out of it. And it was surprisingly great. It's already a bit sugary and fatty, so it caramelized and crisped up beautifully.

And I thought, you know, I've got some decent Shaoxing wine and I can probably get a hold of some Sichuan peppercorns. I think next time I'm gonna go full Cajun-Chinese, throw in some peanuts, ginger, and water chestnuts, and make Kung Pao Tasso.

re: listening to Camper Van Beethoven again observation, drug mention

@Leucrotta Oh, I remember! They've always seemed like a very *coyote* sort of band to me. All made of out of the best scavenged musical bits and scraps.

soundcrime, extreme music, mlp, reclaiming ugly things

I still want to make a power electronics* album that sounds exactly like Whitehouse or Genocide Organ, all hideous grinding industrial noise... but for the lyrics we hire Andrea Libman to do Fluttershy saying things like "Hi! You look lovely today! Thank you ever so much for dropping by, I hope you're having a nice morning! Would you like to say hello to my animal friends? Let's have some herbal tea and then go for a walk in the meadow! It's really sunny out today!"

re: listening to Camper Van Beethoven again observation, drug mention

@Leucrotta And Egyptian cartoons?

shenanigans, fact-checking, blatantly patting self on back, raccoon research godling, good morning, mood(++)

Started off the day by schooling a "HURR ITS JUST SCIENCE" transphobe on the genetic complexities of sexual development, then debunked a fake Obama birth certificate by looking up the date of Kenya's independence and plotting a map route from Obama's family village to Mombasa.

It's a good day so far. I love dropping into these people's mentions and fucking up their mornings. They'll never accept that they've been proven wrong, but watching them struggle to fire synapes as they rationalize it away is so entertaining. ^__^

reddit; well screw you karen; silly; :ms_raccoon:

HOW THE HELL can this little crimebear be anything but adorable

re: media comma bad

@kelseyhusky It is kinda terribawesome, isn't it...

What can I say, Goliath reminds me of my buddy Megaweapon.

@JulieSqveakaroo (Except of course it wouldn't be set in Brazil, which of course, is where Childrens Hospital takes place, as you can tell from all the Brazilian things happening...</injoke>)

@JulieSqveakaroo Oh god, it's airborne Chidrens Hospital. :O I would watch the crap out of this, roo...

media comma bad

Gods save me, friends, I am so hard up for media to play in the background to soothe my ADD-riddled brain while I work, I am sitting here torrenting Knight Rider.

re: food, inappropriate raccoon-2-mouth life choice behaviors

@001zlnv I'd murder for some fries with curry sauce right now, to be honest. Or some poutine. Or a really *good* cheddar-beer sauce.

re: food, inappropriate raccoon-2-mouth life choice behaviors

food, inappropriate raccoon-2-mouth life choice behaviors

I made the mistake of reading the "sauces" category on Wikipedia and now all I want is a couple of pounds of french fries and tiny ruffled paper cups full of Terrible Ideas to dip them in.

re: all cops are bastards and that includes your favorite fictional cop, Rolling Stone article

@LexYeen@snouts.online Oh, also, the Shield and The Wire. We... kinda need both of those, especially The Wire. It's more like a sociological text than a cop show.

re: all cops are bastards and that includes your favorite fictional cop, Rolling Stone article

@LexYeen@snouts.online OK, I'm *really* relieved that article was less extreme in context, because y'all are gonna pry my BluRay of the original Wicker Man out of my cold dead hands. ;p (I might give up Hot Fuzz, but you'd have to bribe me. >_< )

Seriously, I'm glad they specifically mentioned what they wanted is subjecting these shows/characters to intense criticism, not disappearing them outright because they meet a single subject-matter flag, with no regard for context or subversive value. That would have been a *tremendous* sticking point for me and I would've ended up feeling sour for the rest of the day.

Anyhow, I ended up agreeing with it, so thanks for sharing it! I actually went on a bender of crime-procedural shows a couple months ago and... god, most of them were functioning on such a naive ideological level I ended up running screaming. I couldn't even handle Monk. -_-

@Austin_Dern But we can get COVID-19, and that is some scary stuff... I really hope my buddy Liam at the Audubon is doing okay. 🐯

(Actually, joking aside, I do believe cats get non-symptomatic infections, whew!)
