I won't give the All Clear yet but Peg and I are back to being chill, Penny and Shemp both got some visits and petting in, my arm's stopped hurting from the tetanus shot, my antibiotics turned out to be a measly $9, and I'm almost back to some relative semblance of okay.

I know her mom will recognize this dog immediately as Not Her Corgo but I still did a doubletake at this and wondered if @mawr's Toast was living a double life. :D

well, i tried registering to vote and doing my overdue state taxes online but couldn't do either without a state ID, which we've tried multiple times to get between COVID and outright system crashes at the DMV

all that's left on my to-do list is parallax, which just ain't happening for the foreseeable future, and trying to salvage the chicken in the fridge that's about to expire

then i can just quietly give up on today. i am sorely tempted to go through our employee handbook and see how much health leave i can take before they want a doctor's note.

but i'm now shut off in my room giving peg some space and i'm realizing that these days when i am alone i am ALONE, even when i kinda can't afford to be, and the transliminal flashbacks alone, feeling all alone and isolated and rejected in a houseful of people, are killing me right now

at least penumbra and i patched things up afterwards, stupid kitten just got overexcited and nipped me during snacktime -- then they tried to FOLLOW me to the clinic and i had to hiss and wave my arms to chase them off

all is forgiven, i scooped them up and snuggled them when i got home and they purrboxed at me so i got that goin for me which is nice

my day so far: reading about roger stone actively advocating for martial law, arguing with peg because she didn't know how to handle my panic, getting bit by kitten and spending morning at urgent care, followed by big teary conversation with mom about politics and lost trust with her

can i please just die already

Watching old episodes of Not Necessarily The News on Youtube. For those of you who aren't familiar, it was a faux-news satire from the early 1980s on HBO.

The humor is kinda dated and obvious in retrospect, but I still recommend it highly... because of how FAMILIAR it all is. Right down to people wondering out loud "is fuckin' NOBODY gonna call Ronnie out on blatantly lying us" and the POTUS making laughable geographical mistakes (apparently Ronnie mislocated the Panama Canal sometime in '83-84?)

In short, DON'T attempt to reload Last Known Good USA. You'll take us right back to 1776, you damn fool, and there's no reason to think they'd get it right next time either.
