Okay y'all, game recommendations wanted. Ideally:
- Has primary verbs other than "shoot" or "stab".
- Is emotionally interesting
- Doesn't look like mud.
Bonus:
- Is gay
- Is less than $10
@starkatt i can think of a bunch of text adventures but not a lot else comes immediately to mind. please keep me in the loop on your findings
@starkatt ummm Gone Home...
@Fuego Already played it. Maybe it should have gone on the list. Thanks!
@starkatt oxenfree? I haven't played it yet but it matches your criteria and people say super good stuff about it.
Kentucky Route Zero is awesome and they donated to TransRelief too!!!
I had a weird time with it on PS4 but now I think I'm ready to tackle it again
@starkatt is unfinished swan on pc? I loved that game.
@Fuego PlayStation only afaik :(
@starkatt Hadean Lands (text adventure), Talos Principle, Fool's Errand.
@starkatt Night. In. The. Woods. OMG. I loved that game so much!! Emotional gutpunch though.
Slime Rancher is kinda cute and fun, though pretty early on, last I played.
The others I'd recommend have already been shared. ^^
@starkatt OH!!
If you haven't already played it: The Stanley Parable.
@starkatt LIMBO perhaps
@cigazze Good suggestion! I've already played it :)
@starkatt haha alright! all I can think of otherwise are Fez and Katamari Damacy (the latter is only on PS2 though and would require an emulator for PC)
@typhlosion @starkatt @cigazze
Gone home? Obduction (requires a horse of a computer though). If Limbo counts, then I'd add Among the Sleep.
@cigazze @starkatt @typhlosion
The Talos Principle
Miasmata
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
@starkatt
Have you done dear esther? It's light on the gameplay, but I think it's a really poignant piece around struggling with identity and agency.
@Irick I love that game :)
@starkatt
Me too :D
Okay... That Dragon, Cancer then?
The Beginner's Guide?
Uh... pretty much anything https://www.youtube.com/user/Campster/videos has reviewed? XD
@starkatt to me FireWatch stands out as an obvious recommendation, though it's more than $10.
And I'm super super super excited about Tacoma, coming out in one month. It's made by the people who did Gone Home, but this one takes place on a futuristic space station. Currently $8.
@starkatt Life is Strange is very beautiful imo, but it has some violence and a significant plotline that deals with severe emotional distress as part of the game. But in addition to those it has some very beautiful, light-hearted moments, and it treats nostalgia, family and friendship as important themes in a way I've rarely seen done in games.
@starkatt 'VA-11 Hall-A' comes to mind.
Put another way:
If the last three games that I found had a lasting impact were We Know The Devil, Undertale, and Night in the Woods, what should I play next?
