@vahnj @starkatt also the book "World War Z" is a collection of memoirs from survivors of the original apocalypse, goes into a lot of depth about how people survived, how they coped, what it did to politics, social structure, economies... told from the point of view of ten years later, when things have stabilized into the new reality and all that's left is basically cleaning up. there's a *lot* of cleanup to do, but still. unreservedly recommended.

semi-dreamed (dozed off while fantasizing and lost control) that I got myself uploaded into a robot raptor body in the Questionable Content universe. that was very nice. at one point I was telling someone that a friend of mine had uploaded into a flock of small birds... (obvious Accelerando shoutout)
@KawaSeadrake I've only been sleeping with judicious use of air conditioners, fans, blinds, and illegal tinfoil on the windows. and even that sometimes isn't enough. our next electrical bill is going to be *painful*
