Not only is it a power of two, but its exponent is a perfect number. If I were more of a numerologist, I might mark that as Meaningful. @Rosemary @Felthry It can take some adjustment, especially as you start coming into your own. The leap from idea to person, from back of head to front, can be hard, but it's survivable and, above all else, it's _okay_. There are folks here who will get it.

@Rosemary @Felthry Good to meet you. You're not the first on-board crisis manager I've met -- got one of my own, and I know a few others around here -- so if __you__ need any help, let us know. We're used to that kind of thing.

@adeptomega A coop running the software could make the app a benefit of membership and make the payment system a lookup for membership. A taxi service could publish normal fares. A non-profit could add a small percentage as a service fee up to some cap earmarked for infrastructure maintenance. And all three could use the same core software.

@adeptomega I'm in no state of mind to tackle #1 right now. #2 I would probably manage by defining a "payment model API' that puts the entire business of determining how money gets managed into a subsystem which must be implemented by the operator of the software much like the CoC or federation list has to be managed by the host of a Masto instance. That allows for different people to control pricing as they wish.

@KoBunny @mawr I think you've hit on something important here that deserves further unfolding. Often that fire takes the form of fireballs flung at whomever chooses to show up, and I've been the target of undeserved anger enough for one lifetime. I'm quite happy to help people process their emotions, but not when I'm being made the _target_ of them, as distinct from the _receptacle_. I'll accept almost any expression of personal pain, but none of lashing out in kind.
