@kauko @Elanna @green @zebratron2084 After that, napoleons are baklava minus nuts and honey plus cream and chocolate. Tompouce appear to be napoleons minus chocolate, and oranje is tompouce plus orange and maybe lemon. Those are hella easy subs to make and I've done it at home before.
@zebratron2084 @green @Elanna @kauko Quick mental deconstruction: From https://glutenfreeonashoestring.com/all-purpose-gluten-free-flour-recipes/ and https://glutenfreeonashoestring.com/gluten-free-phyllo-dough-fillo-spanakopita/, plus some quick mental notes, I can probably make a 66/22/12 rice/corn/tapioca flour blend into a phyllo approximant. Making phyllo's time-consuming but not hard and I can outsource the labor once I have the recipe right.

Tired, but in a good way. Got to snuggle cuties last night, went to breakfast this morning, then came home and cleaned up most of the mess that I'd left in the yard and a couple of branches off the dead bush I dug up last weekend. The yard waste can is full of thorny vines and some pretty honkin' roots now.
Progress. Nobody is demanding I be done immediately, just that I keep working. Small steps. Dedication, not hairshirting.
@zebratron2084 Eric is my new best frenemy. I just know I'm going to feel SO BAD for Dave by the end of the season.

@indi Oh, I'm all for keeping it in. Now it's spiritual discrimination, not just familial. And I can see people still having legitimate grievances about it that a game could and should address.

@indi First thought: reverse it. Eliminate deformity. Metis are people whose self-identity simply isn't human (or feral). Non-kin feel weird around them because the Otherness shows even when they cover for it, so they're at risk of discovery. Perhaps they don't inspire the Veil as strongly because they don't see themselves as alien.
