People mistaking innocent objects for art when in art galleries isn't proof of people's gullibility any more than people jumping to obvious numerical patterns rather than non-obvious ones isn't proof of their illogic. It's evidence that people contextualize their behavior based on their environment and experiences, and will project inner narratives onto external spaces given the chance to do so. People seek reasons to make meaning.

Marcel Duchamp is still an asshole, though.

If "magic" is the impression of perception onto reality, then "ritual" is "a concerted effort spent on changing perception." Ritual differs from general _spellcasting_ in that spells are free-form, and typically single-person. Rituals have a bit more structure to them, and they imply group activity. This isn't to say that they require stodgy attire or calling the corners. A shared in-joke is a ritual, one of the most powerful because it affirms the connections between people.

A question for people: how would people feel about the idea of in-character commentary/interaction hidden behind a spoiler tag for character name? I know "Twitter RP" cheesed a few people in the day, but this has content warnings so people can see it's IC, and I know better than to mix the two. At the same time, I can see advantages for putting it in its own place, including personal convenience and other people's comfort zones.
