I just watched the new Voltron pilot.
It didn't go well.
Sometimes I hate the part of my brain that I've carefully trained to be good at writing. It makes watching a lot of media very unpleasant and uncomfortable, and I don't know how to shut it up.
I'm sorry for all the times I've made watching things unpleasant for anybody else. It's not a lot of fun in here while it's happening, either. That's no excuse, but it is an explanation.

Tonight's offense against the gods is Orange Cinnamon Loaf. I didn't split the dough in half as the recipe said, though. I simply put all the filling in all the dough and then tucked the ends so it looked like a baby. It needed some extra time but it's sweet and spicy and pungent and a little sour and....
... oh, you can't smell that. I'm sorry.

following up on this a day later, i want to be clear: i'm not saying you shouldn't use these platforms because their ethics are questionable. my concern is that these platforms may discriminate against *you, specifically* because of the things you
may need to do to survive. use whatever works to your heart's content, but while your income is tied to any one them, your survival is tied to their terms 😬 we can do better for each other. we can all have a tomorrow!

btw, in case you haven't been exposed to this idea before:
"every person gets one vote and the candidate with the most votes wins" (First Past the Post) is a terrible and undemocratic way to run elections.
Better systems let you give a ranked preference and mean you can't "waste" your vote on a third party.

Steal honey from the tea-and-coffee station, put on nuts in bowl.
Filch salt and pepper shakers from break room table, add to nuts and honey.
Stir, microwave for thirty seconds, stir again, let crystallize.
Sweet and spicy nuts lovingly snuck out from under the Looming Ones. Return remaining ingredients if you think they deserve them back.

Oh, exciting. I volunteered to lead our manual test pass (!) on the week that our seniormost engineer is out (!!) and our second seniormost engineer is going out on Friday (!!!). Today at stand-up, the 2IC said, "this is probably our worst build in eighteen months." (!?) One of the new teams trying to pull their stuff out of our code is going to miss the first drop date (!?!?) and the tool we're trying to use to coordinate the test pass is just a pile of (!@#$).
