mastosoc is really making the entire fediverse look worse because gammon didn't want to just close signups forever
everyone from Twitter signing up on mastosoc is annoying bc it takes ages to load any page from there just to follow someone
does anyone know how to get android to load the new app icons? my phone app is still stuck on the old one even though the play store shows the new one and both messages and contacts already switched
@codl yeah it definitely has to do some funny stuff, but the dock still works with my iPad so it's also a generic USB-C dock which is really funny
only issue is some early/cheap docks can overload the switch's internal power regulator and fry it, but I think the more well-known sellers have all adjusted their designs by now
@codl even the Wii just used a generic USB network adapter
@codl I use the skullnco Jumpgate dock (second one, actually, because they had to update it for OLED compatibility) and it works with any power source that gives enough current (not sure what the limit is but it runs off of a USB-C port)
re: network adapters any old one will probably work, but be aware that a USB-2 one will be limited below gigabit speeds which can be annoying for downloads

@andrej I mean technically you can reactivate it with a bit of JavaScript, so a Userscript that simply sets it to show every time a page loads would work

meta, tipp for newbies
one of the under-reported features of mastodon is the NOTE-option.
you can add a private, only visible to you (and people with database acess, I guess) note to every profile.
so imagine somebody is grinding your gears with a mansplainy response. you want to block/mute them. you can add a little note like "muted for being a kacknerd". So you'll remember.
you can, of course, also fill the notes with heart-emojis. but I'd suggest to send those emojis as a DM.
