@Leucrotta If I had the option of "no cats," though... *sigh* I'd never be able to take it. They're kinda worth it. Even if we do have to play an unfairly weighted 10-minute MOBA every morning just to get out of the house. :)

@Leucrotta It's so much "worse" with the sound effects! This is the closest I can come to a transcript:

tv, "bad" news, the good place (no spoilers), tommy westphall

Oh SHIT. :(

The Good Place is in the Westphall Universe. It apparently connects to Friends via Ursula Buffay from Mad About You, via Phoebe.

Janet, PLEASE keep Derek and Jason BOTH away from snowglobes. D:

kinstuff; gentle reminder for my friends/followers/lab minions

QUUNY NOT KAT

You wanna talk to the manticore (formerly tiger), head to Birdsite or wait for Peg to finish her reference art.

You're stuck with Mx. Red McRabiesface for now and unless you want a bad case of the Mercurian Distemper applied to you craniodentally, you're gonna like it! ❤️❤️❤️

cafe; europol (+)

If Eddie Izzard's line about how postwar liberal-democratic Germany's "got kids with beards now, it's getting alright" could be given flesh, breath, an adorable accent, and a barista job... I think he just served me my morning coffee.

Maria Kondo shit (+)

That weird liberating feeling you get when you open up a bin you never unpacked after the move—and realize you've been living for six months off of 1/5 of your wardrobe and were getting along just fine.

my relationship with my mother in a nutshell (++); cw: ted danson

Ayup.

@JulieSqveakaroo @xinjinmeng @Phorm (Also, srsly, how did you know that "overfed long-haired, leaping gnome" is one of my favorite ways to describe me in RL? S'truth. I'm at LEAST 3 outta 4 if you count leaping on Peggy to maul her. :D )

@xinjinmeng @Phorm If you get a record-player needleskip noise after wish-granting... consult your doctor immediately. You may be in a 1980s Hollywood movie.

@kelseyhusky That sounds less like a midlife crisis and more like a midlife opportunity. <3 (Granted, I'm aware the distinction between the two can be REAL fine...)

birdsite; "good" news

On the other hand, you gotta admit @anthracite's art of Rez's new manticore upgrade is kickin' rad. =(^)_____(^)=

Congrats, other me!

Incidentally, if any of you haven't been followed, it is NOT a snub—I did a real quick, lazy set of adds while I should have been working. :) I'll get around to following people back eventually.

I broke down and rejoined.

@CatAndAHalf

One, it's just too damn quiet here, during a period when I really could use a lot more social contact and affirmation.

Two, I've improved enough on my fighty tendencies that I think it won't be an unending nightmare. :)

Three, I guess it's time to get back out there and start doing some PR for Parallax.

I ain't thrilled about any of this. :)

foodcrime; stress; stinky cheese postmortem

Honestly? I'm a bit disappointed.

The cartoons are not wrong. Up close, Limburger has an aroma that it would not be unfair to describe as "footy." Its flavor is only a tad earthy and bloomy, though. It definitely didn't emit the cloud of telekinetic stink I was promised by Tom & Jerry. And it didn't begin to compete with the smelliest cheese I've ever had. (A French Munster, which is nothing like the stuff they serve up as deli cheese in the USA...)

foodcrime; stress; basically raccoon things

Stressful day. Things are actually generally good, just got an unexpected piece of healthcare bureaucracy dropped on me with a tighter-than-comfortable deadline.

Well, I had to do some grocery shopping, and I wanted to get something that would help me deal with stress without going overboard. So I got some Mr. Kipling Unicorn Slices (see image below)...

...and some limburger cheese. Because I've never tried it and I need a nice purgative ritual.

@hystericempress @Daikanu It's always good to have a personal League of Substitute Heroes for cosmic crises and other emergencies, though! I've got a punk badger gal whose been benchwarming for months now, semi-patiently waiting for an assignment...

mood (--), potentially contagious, hazmat warning, MAJOR CW: uspol

@Oneironott I mean, I take a lot of comfort from being both a history major and a history buff. Humanity's gotten a lot worse crazy and actually come through it a shred wiser. I think of Japan and Germany and what generally liberal, prosperous, peaceful societies they became...

I still have a lot of hope, this is just... such godawful timing for a Teachable Moment about the perils of autocracy and personality cults, you know?! :(
