@JulieSqveakaroo Good, I am genuinely relieved. *hug* Anything anyone can do to reduce their Cheetoh Stress even a little is a net positive in the universe.

psa, silly subtoot

do not taunt me with the smashmouth

you have no idea what kind of arsenal i have

do not make me consider retaliation

every one of these psychic weapons has been field-tested against a Level 49 dragon who is already used to my bullshit

@Oneironott *also* omg <3 <3 <3

*rubs up against you then knocks a few things off your shelves*

@Oneironott The Cat is an inspiration to us all. I can only strive to be as aloof, selfish, cryptic, and annoying as her someday. <3 <3 <3

birdsite, phraseology

I just saw someone on Twitter use the phrase "toxic positivity" and this may be the first time anyone has truly understood my worldview.

@Leucrotta Specious Feces, everybody's favorite knockoff peanut butter candy...

re: US Pol (--)

@Phorm Yeah. I don't want to diminish it -- bad things are going to happen. But hell, even in the *actual Civil War* bad things didn't happen everywhere all the time.

It was actually quite a mental turning point for me: when I was in college I took a 20th-c Russia class and we read "Ten Days That Shook The World."

Prior to that I had never really read anything about what it was like for normal civilians during a revolution or a war, and I just kinda assumed it was just hardship and murder every day all the time, and life shut down completely until the crisis was over.

It blew my mind to read descriptions of people going to the Moscow opera and shopping for groceries and whatnot, right in the middle of Big Ugly History...

re: US Pol (--)

@Phorm Just remember it's got a huge magnifying lens effect... It's a quiet day in most of America and there are a lot of forces with selfish personal interests in amplifying this as much as possible... *hugs tight*

low energy rt now but just plain thank you all for being here

@Phorm That's another reason I'm not *that* sad about getting out of Seattle. It was getting real bad up there too, by the end, and I kinda enjoyed watching my encroaching bronchitis magically go away after we moved...

mini-vent, barfing up a hairball of the contagious pessimism I've been absorbing, fuck everything

frank the bunny was right

burn it all to the ground, give it 28 days to simmer, then turn it all off forever

i've deteriorated from "hollowly poke around the internet until i can at least find a shred of good news" to "hollowly poke around the internet until i at least find enough examples of leftists ALSO behaving stupidly that i can take comfort in our mutual annihilation and go back to bed"

uspol, twitter, arguments, QAnon, shenanigans, Martian Hunting Parties, memetic wildlife studies, eels, lizards

Every single argument I've had with a QAnon has been like someone coming up to me and saying "There's a tyrannosaurus rex devastating downtown," and when I say, "OK, prove it," they take a little gecko out of their pocket and say "See?! Lizards ARE real. Checkmate, liberal scum!"

Please understand, none of this actually *surprises* me. Changing these peoples' minds has never been my goal, any more than I ever hoped I'd convince the anti-furry trolls to love us. The point is to watch how they *react* to the prodding and try to develop new tactics from it.

It's just the most goddamn exhausting sort of field work. It's the mental equivalent of standing hip-deep in a stagnant pond for hours, trying to catch slippery eel specimens with ungloved hands.

It's slimy, it's rashy, it's probably unhealthy, you get bitten a LOT, and after a while, you kinda find yourself wondering if you're really as clever as you think you are, when you're constantly getting outmaneuvered by creatures without forebrains.

kitty-adjacent (- ish, no direct cat harm)

It looks like our next-door neighbor has moved out, leaving only the older man she originally moved in with.

The good news is, this effectively means the cats are all ours now. I am sorely attempted to use this as an excuse to Declare Domain Over Shemp For The Remainer Of His Natural Life. I don't think he could ever be a captive indoor cat, but it's far past time to set up a proper kitty guesthouse for him in here.

This bad news is, this effectively means the cats are all ours now. Specifically, if ("when") there's another big storm, there's nobody who's likely to take them in except for us.

It's also entirely on us now if Shadow or Sugarfoot cranks out any more kittens. We REALLY need to get 'em both snipped soon. I'm willing to offer my room up as Designated Kitten Nest if there's another batch, but I'm not eager. >__>;
