re: Stupid but important question
@Phorm Galaxy High on the other hand was probably somebody's kink all along. I think I never want to find out whose. Purple-Skinned Aimee Brighttower is just far, far too precious to me to lose.
re: Stupid but important question
@Phorm I couldn't find any decent production history about the show, but I'd give something like 8:5 odds in favor of "impressionable young viewers made it into a fetish, and the creators had no idea what they were making."
This is only because one of the few forces of creation more fervid and untameable than a pubescent pervert's imagination is a committee of middle-aged entertainment executives trying to figure out What Kind Of Crazy Crap The Kids Like Nowadays.
Turbo Teen is neatly explained as a knockoff of Knight Rider (note his similarities to KITT's design) and possibly Automan. So Occam's Razor demands I accept it's likely to have this and only this as its origin. However, I am *very* open to the idea of one or more crew members discovering "oops shit this is really horny you guys" while working on it...

@001zlnv Peg and I are pretty sure he was a really really good German Shepherd or something in his last life and this is his first time 'round after his promotion to cat...
re: potentially tacky shitpost; cats (++); birdsite meme; police reform; The Thick Grey Stripe
@001zlnv NO, NO, THAT'S HOW GOOD SHEMP IS. He doesn't even try to steal our food. He waits for treats. <3
re: potentially tacky shitpost; cats (++); birdsite meme; police reform; The Thick Grey Stripe
@001zlnv There's nothing less dangerous than a food-motivated sheriff.
re: potentially tacky shitpost; cats (++); birdsite meme; police reform; The Thick Grey Stripe
@001zlnv I figure Police Shemp's personality is basically Boss Hogg if he found Actual Lawful Good Jesus and also was a cat. Lazy, tolerant, genially corrupt southern sheriff who hasn't issued more than a stern warning to anyone who didn't have it comin'.
re: potentially tacky shitpost; cats (++); birdsite meme; police reform; The Thick Grey Stripe
@001zlnv I mean, Shemp's actually corrupt as shit. Artie is HIS SISTER FFS, and I'm sure you've seen what she's like from my previous posts. The whole family is a criminal gang, really.
They just ain't gonna hurt nobody, because they're good kitties. Outlaws with hearts of gold. =^_^=
re: potentially tacky shitpost; cats (++); birdsite meme; police reform; The Thick Grey Stripe
@JulieSqveakaroo He's really good at it. Crime in New Orleans would grind to a halt.

re: capitalism & punitive justice vs people, The Verge link
@LexYeen Same piece of shit DA described a crusade against weed paraphenalia as "totally worth" the exorbitant amount of money the city spent on it. (https://www.oklahoman.com/article/5551315/prosecutor-in-norman-cost-of-prosecuting-glass-pipe-case-worth-it) Nuke their whole court building from orbit far as I'm concerned.
@frameacloud That's a very modern perspective, though. There's a *lot* of social and religious baggage around the application of birth names.
(OTOH, the term pseudonym only dates back to the 19th century, which would tend to weaken my argument...)
