cw innocent people being executed by cops
These aren't police, these are death squads. Not a single one of these people were armed. It took the cops five years to be charged with anything, and two years later their sentences got heavily reduced. Stay safe even if you're not protesting.

By the way, today is 99th anniversary of the Tulsa massacre where over 300 black-owned businesses were burned:

Justin Amash has put forward an "Ending Qualified Immunity Act" and I've called my rep about it.
uspol - please vote in today's primaries
Americans: several states are having primaries today. I know the presidential race is pretty much decided, but this year 1/3 of US Senators, the entire House of Representatives and a whole lot of state and local officials are also in the primaries. In many non-swing states, the primaries effectively decide who is getting the office. This is arguable a more important election.
The eBook version of 'Who Do You Serve, Who Do You Protect?', a book about the realities of US racial police violence, is currently available for free from it's publisher:

Verso is also offering The End of Policing for free:
Opposing 'antifa' the 'organisation' is like opposing 'feminism' the 'organisation': neither has a board, or a boss, or a general election.
It's just a very bad and unsubtle euphemism for "I don't want this movement's goals to get in the way of the things I take for granted."
police de-escalation, Five Thirty Eight
Somewhat encouraging to see the topic appear in as mainstream a forum as them.
"When protests take a turn like this we naturally wonder … why? Was this preventable? Does anyone know how to stop it from happening?
Three federal commissions concluded that when police escalate force those efforts can often go wrong, creating the very violence that force was meant to prevent.
Turns out, we do know some of these answers. Researchers have spent 50 years studying the way crowds of protesters and crowds of police behave — and what happens when the two interact. One thing they will tell you is that when the police respond by escalating force — wearing riot gear from the start, or using tear gas on protesters — it doesn’t work. In fact, disproportionate police force is one of the things that can make a peaceful protest not so peaceful. But if we know that (and have known that for decades), why are police still doing it?"
