trans med (+), self-portrait with cat

@mxsparks awwww, yay! I also have a neurotic black kitty who doesn't sit on me much, though he's been making increasing efforts to be a lap cat over the years. he just gets SO EXCITE when I pet him that he can't sit still. XD

random morning thoughts

for some reason I've always assumed that "One Direction" is a "christian rock" band, but this morning I realized it might be based on a "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" quote, and if it is it's *seriously* badass and I suddenly have a lot more respect for them, but I'm reluctant to look it up in case I'm wrong (and they really are an Xtian rock band).

Research on Cops

"... A related strand of research explores the influence of racial bias on police performance and decision-making, showing that officers apply lower evidentiary thresholds, (Gelman, Fagan and Kiss 2007; Glaser 2014; Goel et al. 2016) and a greater propensity to use force (Correll et al. 2007; Eberhardt et al. 2004; Legewie 2015) when dealing with nonwhite suspects."

Research on Cops

"... police work itself fosters authoritarian personality traits (Laguna et al. 2009; McNamara 1967; Neiderhoffer 1967). Police behavior has also been linked to aggressiveness (Hargrave, Hiatt, and Gaffney 1988), conservative ideology (Christie et al. 1995; Fielding and Fielding 1991) and substance abuse (Sellbom et al. 2007)."

Research on Cops

"Volumes of research in sociology, psychology and criminology have advanced a “rotten apple” theory of police misconduct (Bonnano 2015) explaining variation in police behavior with individual-level officer traits. For example, scholars have posited that police officers have distinct personalities characterized by, “machismo, bravery, authoritarianism, cynicism and aggression,” as well as bigotry (Balch 1972; Skolnick 1977; Twersky-Glasner 2005, 58) and

White denial

@Jmecchia@mastodon.social @Are0h@playvicious.social @guerrillarain okay, can we blame the whites for white-on-white and white-on-black crime?
wsbradio.com/news/national/aus
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_

or, oh hey, y'wanna go through the folks listed here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_mur and tell us the percentage of whites vs. everybody else for attackers and victims? I'm sure it will *absolutely* support your point!

@Leucrotta *dang* that is a cool action shot. so much detail! I love it!

@Aradia@mastodon.social @starkatt yah, I haven't been there for the lunch rush but I imagine it's busy. during off-times, though, it's usually easy to find plenty of table space, and there's a meeting room that can be booked for a fairly low fee. there's also a stage and sometimes there's events happening, including things like kid's concerts, so it can be very noisy at times! XD

@starkatt the Den is awesome but waaaaaaay up north, in Bothell. XD also way up north (but not quite that far) is Third Place commons, which has a food court and lots of table space.

@noelle I KNOW RIGHT. XD I kinda love the Sith Warrior class storyline... XD

disordered food/eating

oops I kinda forgot to eat

@Jacel @Kistaro @toybold I was *so confused* by the "sweet little chirps" of the robin in "The Secret Garden."
*looks outside at giant orange bird SCREAMING*
