... and now it appears his most egregious examples of asshattery have been deleted, so my complaints now look hypersensitive. Fantastico.

@Ulfra_Wolfe@witches.town @KawaSeadrake I have to agree here. You've grown a lot even in what little time I've known you, and you've always had strong will and character.

@raccoon Nanomachine colony that prefers a base shape under default conditions.

@Oneironott Because most people don't have systems or language or technology to understand what "nonhuman" means or requires, and so it never comes up. Human isn't an _identity_ in the larger world; it's just an assumed default. And so once you realize you aren't, you have to fight to keep remembering that, and to keep making it real, because few who aren't will consciously do it for you.

Engineers

@Goldkin I was hoping you'd see this, honestly. Not that I enjoy being the bearer of bad tidings, but at least now I can point to something tangible when I talk about systems not being immune to human influence.

Engineers

I accepted his suggestion, but i called him an asshole in the comments.

Engineers

TFW the suggestion the asshole made works, but only when it's done precisely the way he says do it, there's no clear reason beyond rote memorization of a pattern that this should be the way it works, and it's not worth it to you to memorize this shit because you have better things to do with your life than coopt more of your brain into the Technocratic paradigm.

New standard: if the day ends with me having to ask on Stack Overflow how the hell to code around your design pattern, you should reconsider your design.

@aldersprig@tootplanet.space My last 1300-word Patreon reward story turned into 4000 by the time it was done with me. Sympathies.

Some folks on birdsite are tagging our project account in tweets like "hey jack twitter should copy this thing mastodon does". The idea that this is merely about features is short-sighted. Twitter will never, ever, ever be your friend. They are the shareholders' friend, not yours. No feature will let you see what their engineers are working on, what's under the hood. No feature will fix their headquarters in the US following and enforcing US laws and customs worldwide.

capitalism is what's wrong with software development tbh

@distressedegg They are, in fact, both my jam, and they go very well together. =n.n=

@distressedegg I'm quite aware of what you speak. It's a pretty good deepener. =@.@=
