@KawaSeadrake I've felt guilty about admitting what site I'm a dev for for a while because I've not had the time to handle cleanup of things like that. Our sites run horribly because of all the technical debt and I've just never had the time needed to clean them out.

@KawaSeadrake There were a few patches that changed how some of the configuration files were permitted to be written, and a couple of those config files never got updated. They were config files that dealt specifically with localization, so I never encountered the bug during my site testing since it was usually in the US.

Also, our search page was really badly written so I re-wrote that today.

Lots of files missing error checking and handling stacked up over time. :x

I inherited a codebase that was managed by a marketing department whomst'd only hire dev teams for one-off projects over ~6 years before I started working there.

The average downtime prior to my first day was 2 weeks a year. Today it's closer to 8 hours (and only 'cause our hosting provider sucks). I've been busy trying to meet deadlines while also rewriting massive amounts of the underpinnings of the site. ^^;

Today I spent the whole day cleaning up technical debt.

Our main site no longer generates 300MB of text error logs daily, but instead closer to... 0.3KB, which is a lot of progress.

I feel really good about the work I got done today. ^^

@zigg You could open a joint bank account in your name and the name of the minor and set that up with Paypal. Outside of that, there's not much one can do on that front for someone under the age of 18.
