*looks back at yesterday's talk of potentially needing a new job*

*looks back at card, laughs anxiously*

@Mycroft I mean, if nothing else, it has the potential to be the most interesting interview of my LIFE

@zetasyanthis Hoooooly shit. They didn't even go the office365 route (which includes free live archiving which doesn't add to your counted storage totals)?!

@chr@cybre.space AWOOO!

@adeptomega I was just about to say yes to this, and then I finished reading and realized you didn't mean the piercing kind. XD

@Mycroft Wireless has gotten amazing, but I don't believe in mesh networks without running a physical cable to each AP. 😉

The completed install will have 5 APs, along with two CAT6 drops to each bedroom, two to our media room, plus a couple of IP security cameras-- just to make it easier to see when people pull up. 😁

Update on house stuff

I started our network install yesterday :D

First was a little CAD work (cardboard aided design), then I used that to cut a wood board for mounting... Then a run to the garage for the net coming in.. And lastly, all the equipment.

@wobblewuffess the company that bought us has very strict security practices and does not trust their user base at all

@adeptomega *applies cuddles to a sweet and awesome fren* You are a good. I'm glad you're taking some time for you. ♥️

On top of this, they're replatforming to a system based in Java.

I don't know Java. They're offering to teach me which is cool, but... I dunno. Python? Awesome. Ruby? I'm there. ...but Java? ...In 2017??

I mean, all that plus the parent company is heavily invested in the military industrial complex... And so they keep cutting budgets to make up for their losses in sales in that sector and...

I'm not sure I'll ever really be happy at this company, and that sucks. 😞

Venting about work

I think it might be time to look for a new job.

They're going to cut off my team from accessing:
• Slack
• Skype
• Dropbox
• Google Drive
• Google Docs
• Gmail
• Telegram
• Trello
• Assembla (our ticketing system and wiki)
and others

They insist they provide everything we need with:
• MS Teams (bad UI & fewer features)
• Skype for Business (company policy doesn't allow chat history or external contacts)
• MS OneDrive (Eh.)
• Company Email
• ServiceNow (…)
• MS Sharepoint

@inurashii Henlo fren ♥️

I'm doing pretty well today I think! I hope your pain passes quickly. ♥️
