@Nine well, the range 802.11ac devices are allowed to use is on the x axis, it's split into channels to make it easier for devices to avoid each other. But if there's not many devices around, they can use a wider part of the spectrum to transmit more data, the parts of the spectrum the devices can use are the hills

also on some channels 5GHz migh get interference with weather radar, afaik routers are required by law to back off when they see that, so that's fun

@Nine @kyra @jk at certain points in the spectrum, if there's not much else going on, you can use more bandwidth (basically use multiple channels)

@kyra @jk also there's better and worse 5GHz channels

I doubt they're gonna do it but I really want Valve to make a new Steam Controller with the tech they're putting in the Steam Deck

@chemelia there's no ethical anime under capitalism

@pup_hime that's how you know it's really reading that disc

Ok, Fediverse, this is up to you now!

Watch the bottom center, only two squares are left here. One of them is a mine, the other isn't.

You decide, poll in the thread!

Activision-Blizzard Picket Line Today

Please do not play any of these games today to support those striking.
Call of Duty, Crash Bandicoot, Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk's, Spyro/Skylanders, World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch, and Candy Crush Saga.

@monorail @Felthry yeah, basically. Valve's CS:GO config maps stuff like votes, opening the buy menu… to a grid on the left touchpad. They also support custom icons. It'd be a bunch of work to set up though

here's an example for the radial variant partner.steamgames.com/doc/fea

@Felthry @monorail you can map a staggering amount of keypresses, macros, whatever to the Steam Controller with key combos and the like, you can even map touch-based menus that'll pop up a visual indicator when used

@Felthry if I'm playing with friends, I'd probably prefer my desk, unless I figure out some way to comfortably use chat apps easily from the hypothetical couch. I'd prefer the couch (I don't have one atm) if I'm just playing single-player

@Felthry @monorail depends on the controller, sth like the Steam Controller that just straight up comes with trackball emulation would probably work

@monorail @Felthry twin-stick shooters with kb+m doesn't seem that outlandish to me. In the case of Gungeon, both schemes have their advantages

@Felthry either is an option, it's just more annoying to set up kb+m on a couch, but I already have them at my desk

@Felthry depends on whether I'm playing at my desk or on a TV
