@mawr that... actually sounds--interesting/relaxing. the original idea of listening to a lightly encrypted number station in the dark, that is. XD
oh no: work, marketing, capitalism
@mawr "can we leverage this with some naked dancing girls? cause that would be SUPER AWESOME. and have them dance around the screen in flashing colors... whoa!"
*is possessed by desire to selectively destroy the speech centers of all marketing types AGAIN*
@KawaSeadrake I knooooow that feeeeeling (I have so many of those t-shirts, I've burned dozens but I keep finding them in my closet, wtf). no worries at all, hon. <3
ugh. I feel like I have a mild head cold, which could be:
* allergic reaction to something blooming
* allergic reaction to glutening
* sinus reaction to ongoing pressure change (yayclouds!)
* a mild head cold
I suppose it doesn't matter, because the treatment for all of these is pretty much the same:
* drink lots of water (which I do anyway)
* take my vitamins (see above)
* rest (not doing anything today)
* maybe DayQuil
* wait to get over/through whatever it is
gawd I love Robot Hugs. http://www.robot-hugs.com/whump/
@chr@cybre.space @literorrery @mawr @Thaminga back in AFD days we used to say "if you call yourself a dragon, you're a dragon, no matter what shape you're in." I tend to identify as draconic due to... well, several factors, despite "actually" being a saurian-descended feathered-but-wingless omnivorous biped. (in part because "dragon" is a lot easier to say)
@literorrery @mawr @Thaminga or as I like to call myself, "draconically adjacent"
(I don't actually call myself that)
(but I might start now)
@Jacel that is pretty sweet! :)
@Jacel @KawaSeadrake yes this, for me. and time.
much, much empathy, hon.
@Oneironott @emanate the mountain (Rainier) still startles me sometimes. you go months without seeing it, then one day you look up and HOLY *&#% WHERE DID THAT COME FROM IT'S FRICKIN HUGE. I call it "Fist of God" sometimes (from Ringworld). XD
hot shake
@mawr LITERAL LOL CACKLING
@vahnj literally me
@adeptomega @Oneironott in SF I felt that the layer between here and Other was thin, and had holes. in Seattle, it feels like the layer between is--permeable, like foam, a thick fog, a gel--you can make your own holes without much effort (or accidentally whee), and people do, all the time, without being aware of what they're doing. I love it so much. :]
@starkatt to keep them from associating humans with food, which would get them killed in the wild. there's a lot of critters at the wildlife center that I don't get to see, not in person--bear and bobcat cubs, seal pups, all kinds of birds, rabbits, deer. there's a rule of "NO PEEKING," because the hope is to release the animals back to the wild--but if they're too habituated to human contact, they can't be released, because they'll be a danger to humans, and vice versa.
also I have a guess why the crows are avoiding my porch: I suspect Nar pounced at them and scared them away, especially if the juvenile was on the floor of the porch and thus close enough that Nar could have reached it--if there wasn't a door in the way. of course the *whole point* of attracting birds to the porch is to give the indoors-only cats Bird TV enrichment, so. ah well... I'll just keep putting out peanuts and suet, and hope they come back.
the eagle is an adult and doesn't need hazing; last I heard they had three, and all of them are pretty keen to murder any human who gets within reach of them. plus eagles are HUGE. like, that eagle could take me down, no problem. they're really intimidating up close. XD
I need to buy a big floppy hat, because otherwise I am going to have a serious sunstroke episode walking to the bus stop from volunteering one of these days--especially as it gets hotter. :|
IN OTHER NEWS volunteer day! I saw a sad owl (very fragile, they don't know what's wrong with it), a bunch of raccoons (I was learning how to clean their enclosure and I got to do "hazing" which meant being scary at them which was FUN) and an eagle (from a distance, between slats).
