@syndikalista I've wanted to do one of these for ages. Lacking equipment, practice, confidence, and a regularly clean enough kitchen.

All of these are fixable.

All of these take time and resources I can only grow so fast.

@mirzaba@cybre.space This is new here as of the last two months which is why I'm concerned. If this is plants outside the house, not my problem, dome them all in glass and put warning labels on them. If this is plants in the vase, my problem, burn under controlled circumstances only. ^v^

At this point, the only reason I think my chronic cough is allergies and not excessive bonghits is that last night I didn't smoke anything and I still didn't really get any sleep because the cough and sinus pressure kept me up most of the night.

The plants are trying to kill me.

@Azure I would generally agree that debt is a bad _concept_ but it would take reframing the whole of the global economy to get away from it, and that's not what these people are arguing. They are, as Pauli would put it, not even wrong.

@Azure Enh. There's an entire school of economics that can get macroeconomics and most of global microeconomics without debt through the clever use of equity investment, and it completely avoids the necessity of spending what you don't have because you can still talk about negative equity during underwater periods without enabling "debt" as a concept. That said, that's such a hair-splitting distinction that it doesn't address your deeper point, which is that some comparisons are bad.

@Azure Most of the time when I use "I just don't understand" as a preface to any statement, I am trying to convey a very specific idea: there may be an explanation, but you have not done a good enough job of dejargoning or conveying it to distinguish your explanation from "it's all very technical and you're not smart enough to make sense of it."

I'm happy to admit when I don't get something. I'm not happy with people trying to pee on my feet and tell me it's raining.

@pzmyers I take her seriously in the same way that, say, the "Things I Won't Work With" blog on the Pipeline takes FOOF or crazy azide chains seriously. I take her seriously in the the way takes the CDC takes Class III infectious diseases seriously.

No experiment is a failure if it yields data.
This experiment has yielded data, and is therefore successful, even if the conclusion disproves the hypothesis.

The experiment may now be brought to a reasonable conclusion.

@KawaSeadrake It was when the reality of the home repairs hit and the thought occurred in the moment that actively charting the descent into debt would make me panic more than waiting until I'd hit bottom, seen how bad it was, and then documented the carnage. Except that it took six months to hit bottom and I was in shock when I did, and all of my habits were broken.

The chart is updated. The lines forward are cast. They're not complete, but they're something.

@Mous The deeper problem is that there is no shared space which can accommodate everyone. There is no universally accepting shared space, because we don't all need the same things. The only universally accommodating environment is one that gives everyone their own bubble and the ability to decide with what and whom to interact.

So, the real question is: who are we prioritizing, and who are we choosing to exclude?
