So... I started playing Opus Magnum.

I feel a little called-out here.

So... after glazing, I had extra cold ganache. And time. So I improvised some.

They're not perfect -- I don't have a star tip -- but this was my first experiment with piping. @LadyAstolat​, the bake release worked perfectly! Thank you!

I present "Fünf Schokoladen Drei Orangen." A yeasted cake -- kugelhopf -- with acao nibs, chocolate non-pareils, dutched cocoa, chocolate ganache, chocolate buttercream, triple sec, orange zest, dried orange peel.

Tonight's experiment: triple-chocolate orange kugelhopf. The bowl on the side is chocolate orange ganache for glazing once the yeasted cake is cool.

@Leucrotta Sadly, no country on Earth meets my standards right now. It's all a question of which particular shitshow you want to tacitly endorse with your tax dollars.

@KoBunny If you're well enough to travel, pet, I'd love to have you nearby to watch. Just because you can't immediately help out doesn't mean I can't take your paws away from you and feed you chocolate morsels while I work.

The funk of failing my last kugelhopf has mostly passed, in light of wanting to try again. Tonight's experiment: chocolate chunk with a triple sec ganache. I want that set enough that I can take it with me to FlatVids tomorrow, so others can ~~keep me from eating it all~~ share in the judging.

My mixed-peel kugelhopf stuck to the bundt pan; more flour to coat and a better job of it. I may need to consider a different tin, or possibly something other than flour, maybe parchment paper.
The homemade mixed peel was too hard; next batch needs to boil longer and use only syrup, no extra sugar.
The crumb was amazing. I've never had a cake with that texture before. The flavor was good but the citrus needed abother note to balance it.
Magic frosting is shockingly easy.

Me and my mixed-peel kugelhopf are well on the way to being baked tonight.

@DialMforMara @typhlosion I use it in religious/spiritual contexts to talk about "living faith" as distinct from "having faith." In olden days, I would've said "walking the walk and not just talking the talk," but for once the shorter word won out over the bulky phrase in my vocabulary.

@Oneironott I know these feels. Pretending is a pain, but we're here and you don't have to pretend for our sake.

@starkatt Narrowing it down slightly, the design of the final puzzle doesn't respect my time. There's a lot more to it, but that's the biggest part. Any game that makes me sit and wait for forty-five minutes, during which I can take no action, is not well-designed by my standards, even if the theme of the game is one of mindfulness and observation.

Twelve-hour day today. My own damn fault; I got stick thinking this task couldn't possibly have that many more nested errors. Little did she know. Very very little. I have learned, if only that Amazon's documentation is out of date for their SDK.

@Fuego Biggest hurdles:
Lunar and solar _will_ be out of sync. Pick one.
Tropical and sidereal _will_ be out of sync. Pick one.
The length of a month on a lunar calendar is horribly irregular; the Hebrew moment is the most accurate measure of it.
The length of a year on a solar calendar has to account for leap time to stay in sync. Leap day/week/month calculations are incredibly complex. I have spreadsheets and they still suck.
