Bayspreading: the web coding equivalent of 'manspreading', where your web page loads stuff from a million separate Amazon and Google servers located in the San Francisco Bay Area because you figure 'the Silicon Valley Cloud is everyone's personal computer these days, isn't it?'
and you don't realise 'everyone' in the world doesn't host data in the legal jurisdiction of the USA or even wants their data packets going beyond their local USB cable.
@ElectricKeet this is one reason we've ended up with a third-party session manager on every browser we use anyway. :(
vaguely warm take
honestly if there's one thing I hate about most implementations of "realism" is that it's always just to reduce diversity, color nad just... the whole vibrancy to things that makes it all enjoyable to begin with
like truth is often much stranger than fiction and it's perfectly possible to get super weird while still staying well within the bounds of our universe, embrace that shit
embellish it, even
@zebratron2084 Those clouds though these days, sometimes they are just so, you know?
game idea:
you're a soft-spoken and forgetful expands-in-water dinosaur sponge in the distant, arid future
you're in a dessicated stasis when a still-running social markov bot posts 'meds reminder' to a media feed in your vicinity, spurring you to roll/waddle your way to all the nearest water sources to keep hydrated, lest you fall back into capsule stasis. you do this out of a desire to find the bot that reinvigorated your spirit and express your delicate, absorbent gratitude
@aesmael Don't learn about them from Anne McCaffrey's writing either apparently. ;___;
implied ensoftening
@Oneironott where are all these plushies coming from though? there was just the one and now there's a dozen adorable squishy animals! we can't find the cat anywhere and why did the party guests leave already??
@literorrery @ayumisilverfox Using Amaroq here on iOS, but also Chrome on iOS for other times (especially multiple sites). Safari on iPad works as well but Safari on our iPhone isn't displaying everything correctly.
@sydneyfalk @starkatt The problem is never the people you wanted to find it to begin with, and it has become easier for others to to find/share/be exposed to/take issue with the existence of/harass/etc both more quickly and in greater volume?
Pressure to conform NB stuff
@Firstaide Speaking from a AMAB transfeminine nonbinary perspective, we've definitely seen pressure to present more masculine to be able to secure recognition from others regarding the validity of our nonbinaryness. Lots of "you must retain this much masculinity in your presentation and add just a touch of femininity otherwise you're a crossdresser or a drag queen" essentially.
Pressure to conform/afab NB stuff
@Firstaide Things which look masculine are often seen as a default, or even as a preferred presentation. Unless directly targeted at "women" or "girls" femininity is generally presented as an alternative to (or an alteration of) masculinity in signage, advertising, writing, pictures, film, television, games...
i.e. Anything at all seen as feminine many times means being read as feminine, because masculine = androgynous and feminine = the only available other.
textual orthocosmic lewd
@Oneironott It can cause its own hormone level changes, but outside that we haven't seen any note of problems. We'd be glad to know if you find information otherwise though. >_>;;
quite postfurry, woo, plurality
@Oneironott We usually explain it away as plural headspace things, someone working on something in the background, perhaps utilising our focused state at front to get some of their own things done. There have been times though that it has felt much more definitively elsewhere: worlds layered together, focus slipping between several as reference frames get desynchronised.
worldviews, light world crappiness
@Oneironott This sounds like an accurate model from everything we've seen and from all the stories told by those who've also gone through it.
Somewhere along the way the component of "make things better for the next generation" never really happened. Lots of "make it good for me and forget anyone else" was enshrined instead.
a large plural system // endogenic, thoughtforms, traumagenic, polyfragmented // scientific, spiritual, cosmological
writers, musicians, photographers, too much random technological trivia
