tmi Tuesday; parents, house stuff
@Leucrotta I'm well off and I'm also waiting for my folks to die. Selling their house is part of my long-term plans for financial stability, assuming my brother doesn't convince them he's the better child.
I just got a phone call that didn't respond when I picked up and said "hello," so I hung up and called back. When the person on the other end answered, I said I was returning their phone call, and they said "no thank you" and hung up on me.
Searched for the phone number online, and it's for an evangelical Chinese church with one star on Yelp. WTF?
I tried to move and thought I was going to fall over. and I was sitting down.
body kinda hurts. Not bad, just achy.
Stomach was really upset last night, badly. Not great this morning.
WFH has already become sick time today. Not a good start to the day.

@vahnj @indi @anthracite Oh, heavens no, there's no _requirement_ on any of this. No content should be considered "gatekeeping" and nobody should be considered in or out based on their appreciation of any particular piece of media. I'm personally more focused about the "out" because I've seen too many people excluded for liking things others had declared anathema, but "in" is equally an issue for folks who've been pressured to enjoy things they found uncomfortable.

@indi @vahnj @anthracite This is something I feel like I have to remind myself and others. RHPS was part of my introduction to queer culture. I saw it first when I was a teenager and it was not only enlightened but transgressive. I feel like we've lost the means to contextualize history. I never hear about how progressive things were then, only how problematic they are now. Only ideal praxis counts, and only until culture shifts.

@irisjaycomics @skolli@mastodon.social Oh, I've got plenty of workarounds. You just rattled off an awesome-sounding blend of spices and I had a moment of lamentation, is all. Black pepper/cumin/oregano/cinnamon/orange has become one of my new go-tos for flavoring stuff to give it a sweet-spicy kick. That and garam masala, which can amazingly be made without capsaicin. =o.o=
